Adjusting the candy dispensing wheel on your candy vending machineallows you to control the amount of candy dispensed, thus helping to control your costs, maximize your profits, and keep potential customers happy.

Obviously, dispensing too little candy can result in a loss of repeat sales, but vending too much candy can also hurt. It all depends on the cost per unit of the candy.

Common sense indicates to dispense less if the candy is expensive, more if it is less costly. Trial and error and a little simple math will help you discover that “sweet spot” (pun intended) that allows you to make a good profit on your machine, increase the chances of repeat traffic, and reduce the number of times you need to refill your vending machine (which costs you time and money).

Your candy wheel is capable of dispensing product smaller than .76 inches (including smaller size gumballs). How much you dispense is controlled by the Wing component. The Wing is easily adjusting using the following simple steps:

1. Disassemble your candy dispensing machine (see the User Manual that came with the machine) until you are able to access the Candy Wheel’s assembly.
2. Remove the Hold-Down Screws.
3. Remove the Brush Plate.
4. Lift up the wing and reinsert it to allow the desired amount of product to be dispensed. There are eight (8) notches on the candy wheel which correspond to tabs on the Wing.
5. Replace the Hold-Down Screws and tighten. Do not overtighten.
6. Test the dispensed amount. If the amount vended is too much or too little, unscrew the Hold-Down Screws, adjust, and re-secure.
7. Replace the Candy Wheel back into the Hopper.
8. Place the Brush Plate back onto the Candy Wheel. The Brush Plate is marked with an arrow indicating the front (which aligns the springs to cover the triangular opening.) Secure with screws.
9. Reassemble your candy dispensing machine.

Getting used to adjusting the candy dispensing wheel so you vend just the right amount of product is crucial to keeping your business healthy and profitable! While you’re at it, now is a good time to considering cleaning the exterior (only) your candy vending machine with mild soap and water, letting it dry, spraying on a protectant, and giving it a good buff.
